On June 25, the ARC hosted Ambassador Michael Ranneberger and 30 members of Kenyan society who responded to an advertisement for an informal discussion on US-Kenya relations that had been posted on the Embassy website.  The diverse group included University students, NGO’s representatives, business people, and the self employed.  In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador said the objective of the program was to educate the ordinary Kenyan citizen about the U.S. foreign policy objectives in Kenya and went on to discuss the cordial relationship between the Kenyan and U.S. people governments, highlighting the recent visit to the U.S. by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other Kenyan dignitaries.  In this first of a continuing series of programs, the Ambassador encouraged Kenyan youth to take a proactive role in civil society development and democracy building.  He also discussed the Mission’s plans to develop a youth working group to help better focus USG support to Kenya’s large youth population.
