U.S. Citizen Services
U.S. Federal Taxes
U.S. citizens must report their worldwide income on their Federal income tax returns. Living or earning income outside the United States does not relieve a U.S. citizen of responsibility for filing tax returns. However, U.S. citizens living and/or working abroad may be entitled to various deductions, exclusions, and credits. We have all the forms required for the filing of the Federal income tax return at our Embassy.
Tax assistance is available by telephone at 1-877-777-4778 (Toll-free number) or TTY/TTD 1-800-829-4059 or the general IRS toll-free number 1-800-829-1040 and (request Taxpayer Advocate Service). The IRS Internet Home Page has tax information and one can download forms at http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/. For individual tax assistance, one can direct his or her inquiries to:
Assistant Commissioner (International),
Internal Revenue Service,
950 L'Enfant Plaza South, S.W.
Washington DC 20024,
Attention: Taxpayer Service Division
The Embassy does not have an in-house Tax Advisor available to assist with the Federal Income tax matters.
