U.S. and Ministry of Education-Kenya Launch 560 Million Shilling Education Program for Marginalized Children in North Eastern and Coast Provinces

Education for Marginalized Children in Kenya (EMACK) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MOE) made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF).

The emphasis in the second phase will be the promotion of innovative models and strategies to ensure that all children have access to quality basic education. This launch also marks the expansion of the project from the 5 pilot districts to all the 15 districts in both Coast and North Eastern Provinces. Implementation runs from January 2007 to October 2011 (5 years) with the key partners are the MOE, AKF and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
