Mass Casualty Exercise - Not Real Emergency at United Nations and United States Embassy Compounds

May 25, 2007

The United States Embassy and United Nations Office of Nairobi announce that they will hold a mass casualty exercise this morning, May 25th, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on United Nations Avenue in Gigiri. This drill will include "casualties" arriving via ambulance at Nairobi Hospital, Aga Khan Hospital, M.P. Shah, Avenue Hospital and Gertrude's Hospital. These persons are not actually injured but are participating in the drill. We emphasize that this exercise is only a drill, not a real event. Neither the press nor the public should be alarmed.

Media Houses needing further information should contact either the United Nations Information Centre at 762 4560, or the United States Embassy Public Affairs Office at 363 6203.
